| June 21st, the night of
our departure had arrived. We all met at Habtewolde house for a
final briefing before we moved out to the first. Campsite. The driveway
was bustling with activity; some were saying goodbyes expressing
their thoughts on the adventure that awaited them. Others packed
the last items into place.

The rumble of engines broke the still of the morning,
we were on our way, except for Habtewolde who had to remain in Birmingham
to tie up some last minute business. He was to join us as soon as
possible.
Maplethorpe on the North East Coast of England was
to be our first port of call. Mrs Snape Tsagazahabs mother graciously
received us. She furnished us with all the information we required,
concerning the quality and availability of prospective campsites
in the area. |
Mrs Snape also opened up her house
to us. This was the last taste of home comforts any of us were to
experience for a while.

After resting the time came for us to seek our first
campsite, five of us accompanied by Mrs Snape set off around the
coast road of Maplethorpe to find the most suitable site. Now Maplethorpe
is a typical seaside town, you know! Butlins, Haven, the promenade,
grandad and his ice cream both melting in the midday sun. Last but
not least rock, mint or fruity flavour.

The first few sites were not suitable for our needs.
Which were, to be able to play music without disturbing any nearby
campers and have a modest amount of privacy. Finally we booked in
with Heaven caravan/campsite. This site proved to be ideal for our
requirements, the middle of a field with plenty of space all around.
